This article explains how to view and manage your Sending limit. The sending limit refers to a setting that can be configured on your account that determines the number of messages you are able to send within a day or month. They're an effective way to:
Control your usage.
Prevent user error whereby a user might upload a misconfigured file with more recipients than intended.
Prevent machine error whereby an integrated, automated system might send more messages than intended.
Important:
- Only users with Admin access can adjust an sending limit. You cannot manually set the limit to a value higher than your account's assigned system limit. However, if you require a higher limit, Admins can request a limit increase directly from within your account settings as shown below.
- Setting an sending limit means that the account can only send messages up to the specified daily or monthly volume limit. Any messages exceeding this limit will be marked as Discarded in the log reports and will need to be manually resent either once the limit resets at the start of the next billing cycle, or after the limit is increased by an administrator/ our support team.
- We cannot set a temporary sending limit to revert/ change automatically after a set time period. So if you want to increase the system limit temporarily, you would need to contact us. Otherwise you can simply set your monthly limit to be less than the system limit, as show below.
How to adjust your monthly or daily sending limit
- Navigate to Settings > Numbers > Settings
-
Under the Messaging heading you will see Monthly sending limit and Daily sending limit:
- Click on the Edit icon of either the Monthly sending limit and Daily sending limit (this cannot exceed the monthly limit). If you are setting a limit that is equal to, or less than, the system limit on your account, you will simply be able to enter the new limit and click the Save button:
- If you need to increase the limit to be higher than the current system you will need to follow them steps below to request this.
How to request a system limit increase
You can request a system limit increase directly inside the Sinch Engage platform.
-
Navigate to Settings > Numbers > Settings > Messaging
-
You will see your system limit and then options to adjust it. When increasing to a limit higher than the current system limit, you need to click Request increase:
- Once submitted, you will see a brief pop-up (toast notification) on your screen confirming the request was sent.
What happens next?
Clicking the request button automatically generates a ticket with our Support team. Our team will review, approve, and apply the increase based on our standard procedures. You will receive updates and a final confirmation that the increase has been completed via a response directly on your Support ticket.
Important: Please note that while your request is pending, you only need to submit it once! Mulitple requests to adjust the limit at the same time will likely result in delays.
Sending limit notifications
To help you avoid failed sends and unexpected disruptions, we will proactively notify you as you approach your sending limit.
- 80% Limit Warning: The first time your sending reaches 80% of any configured limit (daily, or monthly), an automated email notification is sent to all account Admins.
- 100% Limit Reached: If your sending hits 100% of your sending limit, Admins will receive a second alert email.
Both of these notification emails contain a convenient Request Limit Increase link, allowing you to instantly initiate a request straight from your inbox.
